MAKING TAX DIGITAL · FROM APRIL 2026
Photograph
it. That’s
your tax.
Snap the receipt. Say what it was for. FastMTD keeps the records HMRC now insists on, tells you what you owe as you go, and gets the update ready every quarter.
No card. Free until you have to file.
Three things happen. You do the first one.
01
Snap it
In the queue at the merchants, in the van, on site. Paper, screenshot, or an emailed invoice. Say what it was for if you want to.
02
We read it
Supplier, date, amount, VAT, category - sorted. If it’s genuinely unclear you get one short question, not a form.
03
HMRC get it
One screen a week before the deadline. Tap approve and it goes, or let your accountant approve it for you. Sending to HMRC switches on when HMRC grant FastMTD production access, which we are seeking for the 2027-28 tax year.
THE ACTUAL SCREENS
Four screens. That’s the whole app.
WHAT THE RULES ACTUALLY ASK
Two obligations. Four dates. That’s the whole change.
Self-employed or letting property, turning over more than £50,000? From April 2026 HMRC want your records kept digitally and a short summary four times a year. FastMTD watches the dates so you never have to know which quarter you’re in.

IF YOU’RE ON A SPREADSHEET
Your spreadsheet works fine. It just can’t talk to HMRC.
SPREADSHEET + BRIDGING TOOL
FASTMTD
Got a year of spreadsheet history? Bring it in as your opening position - we’ll map the columns with you.
THE HONEST ANSWER ON PRICE
£12 /month inc VAT
Less than a coffee a week. Against it: no evenings on data entry, no late-filing penalties, and a set-aside number that means January isn’t a shock. Free while you’re under the threshold and don’t have to file.
Behind, not started, dreading it?
Photograph the pile. The app takes a stack at once and drops each one into the right quarter.
Already have an accountant?
Good. Link them in one tap. They see a proper ledger with your photo behind every line, and they can approve your updates for you.
FASTMTD PRACTICE
Accountants get a different product.
One screen, every client, sorted by who files first. Clients capture on their phones; you review only what needs a human, clear the rest in a batch, and they send from their own app.
